Sean's Bowling Birthday

This year, for Sean's fifth birthday, we had his first "real" birthday party with friends. His choice was to go bowling! We invited 8 friends to join us, most of whom are in his preschool class. It was quite a good time. I am not sure there is anything cuter than these 4 and 5 year olds bowling!

Toe Socks....

Molly recently completed her first book report of the year on this book....

Toe socks figure prominently in the protagonist's friendship with her BFF. Molly liked this book so much she wanted a pair of toe socks....since I am always looking for ways to get Molly to love reading more, I obliged....

It turns out toe socks are relatively hard to find! I was lucky enough to find these at Target in their Halloween section.

Girl Scout Sports Night

Wow, its been so long I had to work to remember my Typepad password....Lots to catch up on!

Our first Junior Scout function of the year happened several weekends ago. We had a sports night at a local health club including swimming, rock climbing, volleyball and basketball. It was a blast and very fun to see Molly having such a good time. She has had an adjustment to fourth grade this year and I am so glad she can have such a good time with her friends...

Molly, a natural athlete, seemed to really enjoy the volleyball....Aunt Katy are you listening????

  A first climb for all of our troop!

Our next major outing is an overnite at the local girl scout camp with the two other fourth grade troops. We will be staying in a lodge, thank goodness! It is our first foray into camping of any kind....
 

Afternoon Preschool Rocks!

I was not looking forward to the everyday afternoon preschool schedule for this year. But, as we enter our third week I have to say I love it! Sean and I drop Grace and Molly off at school at 7:45am. We come home, eat breakfast, have play time, snuggle time, whatever and then he goes off to school at 11:30am.  I am then ready to get stuff done! Groceries, running, cleaning, reading, etc... the afternoon stretches before me and it is a wonderful thing. It also helps tremendously that Sean is LOVING school and can't wait to go back each day :)

Six Little Things....

It's the little things that tell me my little guy is "all grown up".....

1) He can put on and take off his bike helmet.

2) He can zip and snap his shorts.

3) He can buckle his seat belt.

4) He can "shop" for his own clothes.

5) He goes to the neighbors' houses, rings the doorbell and asks to play all by himself.

6) He can get (pour) his own orange juice in the morning.

They all show a fast growing independence from Mom and it is bittersweet!

THOMAS!

Last weekend, Grandma, Grandpa, Sean and I visited the Illinois Railway Museum to see and ride Thomas the Tank Engine....

The girls wanted nothing to do with this adventure and Derk stayed home with them. It's kind of sad really. They both once loved Thomas just as much as their brother does now....

 

A wonderful day with my parents and a nice way to close out our "staycation" week!
